Xytu® DP5040

Sodium Polycarboxylate Dispersant for Coatings

DP5040 disperses pigments and fillers in waterborne coatings. Review product data and confirm the dosage basis before formulation trials.

Description

DP5040 is a sodium polycarboxylate additive for pigment and filler dispersion in aqueous coating formulations. Evaluate it with the intended pigment package and binder, checking dispersion quality, viscosity, gloss and storage behavior. Confirm the dosage basis before formulation trials.

This colorless to pale-yellow transparent liquid is based on sodium polycarboxylate. It has good water solubility and compatibility with ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. It is compatible with coating systems, provides low-foam dispersion and offers lasting dispersing action to help stabilize coating viscosity.

It is used for powder dispersion in waterborne coatings and can deliver good initial gloss in gloss and semi-gloss latex paints. With highly hydrophobic pigments, it can improve tinting behavior and reduce wetting-agent demand.

Directions for Use

The source recommends 0.1-1.0%, with the actual level determined by testing. The calculation basis is not stated: do not assume this means total formulation mass, pigment/filler mass or active content. Confirm the basis and applicable coating system before using this range.

Packaging and Storage

Available in 30 kg / 50 kg / 250 kg / 1250 kg plastic drums. Store in the unopened original container at +5 to +40°C. Shelf life is 12 months from production.

Test Conditions and Selection

Confirm the dosage calculation basis and viscosity method with technical support. Evaluate the actual pigment/filler combination, dispersion quality, viscosity, gloss and storage behavior.

Planning a Dispersion Comparison

Use the same binder, pigment and filler package, batch size, temperature and dispersion equipment for the control and candidate formulations. Record mixing speed and time, addition stage, grind fineness, viscosity method, gloss conditions and storage observations. These are trial records to collect; no comparative test results are published here.

Compare related materials in the coating formulation application and request the confirmed dosage calculation basis before using the published percentage range.
