Water-Based Matting Agent
Polymer Matting Agent for Waterborne Coatings
DA-32 is an acrylic polymer matting agent for waterborne coatings. Review product data and evaluate gloss in the intended resin system.
DA-32 is an acrylic polymer additive used to adjust gloss in waterborne coating formulations. Assess the gloss response in the intended resin system together with film appearance and settling behavior. Record the coating thickness, measurement angle and dosage for a useful comparison.
This pale-yellow, viscous liquid is an anionic acrylic polymer matting additive. It can replace matting materials such as diatomaceous earth and fumed silica in waterborne coatings, providing high matting efficiency together with good film feel, water resistance and anti-settling performance. It can be used with various emulsions and thickening systems.
It may be added directly during the initial dispersion stage with high-speed dispersion. For late-stage addition, first dilute at a product-to-water ratio of 1:15, then add slowly. The recommended dosage is 0.1%–0.5% of formulation mass, measured as supplied. Establish the actual dosage in preliminary tests before paint preparation according to the target gloss.
Available in 50 kg plastic drums. Store sealed in a cool, dry, ventilated place; shelf life is 12 months.
Compare a control without the matting additive with trial formulations using the same resin, substrate, application method, dry film thickness and curing conditions. Record the dosage as supplied, gloss measurement angle, instrument, measured gloss and surface observations. Interpret published examples only within their stated formulation and test conditions; they are not guaranteed gloss reductions.
DA32EC supporting matting additive is intended for use with DA-32; it is not presented as a standalone replacement. Compare DA-60 water-based matting agent against its own technical data before selecting a formulation.
Browse matting agents for waterborne coatings, review coating formulation applications and obtain the available DA-32 technical documents. The existing Chinese TDS remains identified as Chinese.

The DA-32 matting formulation article reports a specific blend containing 50% gloss emulsion, 1.4% DA-32 and 3% DA32EC by total formulation mass. Reported gloss at 60 degrees and 85 degrees was 86 and 92 for the control without matting additive, and 4.1 and 7.8 for the DA-32/DA32EC blend. The article contains the full formulation.
The article does not specify the substrate, dry film thickness, curing conditions, gloss instrument, test standard or replicate count. Treat this as a formulation-specific reference requiring technical confirmation, not a guaranteed result for DA-32 alone. The example does not replace the TDS dosage guidance or establish a universal addition level.
